Cradle Mountain National Park walk

If you are looking for an adventure within the Cradle Mountain National Park, then the Overland Track may be for you. This fantastic six day wilderness experience meanders for 65 km through some of Tasmania’s finest environments. It is an iconic walk and often rated in the top ten backpacking experiences in the world.

Starting at Cradle Mountain, the Overland Track bushwalk (as we Aussies call multiday hiking) is not for the unprepared. You need to gear up and plan the walk as the weather can be changeable and conditions tough. There is also a booking system with fees payable in season.

This iconic trek meanders from Cradle Mountain and heads south through button grass plains, craggy outcrops, fantastic ancient forests and wild places ending at Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest lake (200m)
