Overland Track walk – guided adventure with Tasmanian Expeditions

Cradle Mountain the start of the Overland Track with Tasmanian ExpeditionsThe Overland Track is Australia’s most iconic bushwalk. Whether you’re from the mainland of Australia, further afield or even lucky enough to live in Tasmania, walking this classic Tasmanian trek is a complete adventure experience every hiker should undertake.

The Overland Track attracts many walkers each year and thanks to the graded trail it is protected from the impact of the many feet that walk it each season. The graded trail also makes it ideal for first time bushwalkers. When travelling the Overland Track with Tasmanian Expeditions, your backpacks are kept lighter thanks to our food drops and the modern lightweight equipment.

Each trek from the dolerite crags of Cradle Mountain to the rainforest-clad shores of Lake St. Clair is led by a passionate, experienced, first aid trained wilderness guide who will help to bring the famous track to life for you as they share their local knowledge & enthusiasm for this special part of the Tasmanian wilderness. Every guide doubles as a seasoned wilderness chef, so if you’re planning to do this trek to lose some weight you may want to think again!

Our company first offered the Overland Track back in the late 60’s as Craclair. Today, we offer a range of options to suit many different fitness levels and budgets, including;

3-day Cradle Mountain Experience: Explore the mountainous terrain and unique flora & fauna of Cradle Mountain on this cabin-based guided tour.

7-day Overland Track: the classic version of Tasmania’s most famous walking trail

10-day Overland Track Explorer: a wonderful extension to our classic 7-day tour where during the 3 additional days you are able to drop your packs and explore the nearby Pine Valley Region, where the aim is to explore the magic of the Labyrinth Valley and climb the Acropolis, where we are met with panoramic dazzling views of the countless mountain peaks spread out before you.

The range of walking options with us is not limited to the Overland Track. We have a number of walking itineraries that combine sections of the Overland Track with walks in the Walls of Jerusalem and even a wild and rugged trek from the Coast to Cradle Mountain. We also offer more rugged explorations along the South Coast Track, the Western Arthurs Traverse, and a circuit of Mount Anne – the highest peak in the remote south-west – as well as cycling holidays and rafting expeditions down the mighty Franklin River.
