Shippies Hotel – Battery Point – Hobart

Shippies Hotel Hobart

We are a bit reluctant to let you in on this secret.  Having used the Shipwright Arms Hotel in Hobart as our accommodation  base for a few years, we really don’t want it to change or get too busy. It is a top, old fashioned pub in a fantastic location. Think 5 minutes walk to Jackman & McRoss (one of the best bakeries in Hobart)   and ten to Salamanca Place. It is that central.

The Shipwright Arms Hotel is traditional old English corner pub filled with history, tradition and pride. It is not a fancy or trendy hotel. It is just a great place to stay or eat or both!

Shippies have basic budget rooms which would suit people prepared to cross a corridor for bathroom facilities. These are the ones we usually stay in, as we are often in Hobart before or after a bushwalking trip. They are luxury to us compared with a tent!

The en-suite rooms are a new addition to the hotel.  They are a bit fancier with, well, an en-suite  plus air conditioning and a flat screen TV.  With more space and your own private bathroom, with shower,  they are perfect for a stay in Hobart.

Aaron and Gordon are offering Cradle Mountain.net readers special accommodation deals for winter

Monday – Thursday night – Ensuite rooms are $100 per night while Friday to Sunday are $120 per night – this deal is valid until 31st August 2011. They will also throw in a complimentary beer or house wine on arrival.  It’s not a bad way to start your Hobart stay.

From the 1st September to the end of May you can pick up a room on  Monday – Thursday for $120 a night.

These are significant discounts.

The Shipwrights Arms Hotel is at 29 Trumpeter Street, Battery Point,  Hobart

Shippies is also a great place to have a meal.  Open for lunch and dinner, the steak and seafood bistro is so popular that bookings are essential.

As we mentioned above, this is an Aussie Pub steeped in history.
